Aloe Ferox & Oat Barrier Body Cream
Fragrance-free ceramide cream for sensitive skin
A fragrance-free barrier cream formulated for sensitive, reactive, eczema-adjacent, or recovering skin. Ceramides at physiologic ratios, colloidal oat for anti-inflammatory support, Cape aloe ferox for indigenous polysaccharide protection.
Actives
- Cape Aloe Ferox extract 5% Indigenous polysaccharide-rich barrier active
- Colloidal oat (Avena sativa) 1% Anti-inflammatory, beta-glucan rich
- Ceramides NP/AP/EOP 2% Lipid bilayer support, identical to skin's own ceramides
- Cholesterol 0.5% Physiologic lipid, supports ceramide function
On ceramide ratios
Ceramides work best when applied in approximate physiologic ratios — roughly 3:1:1 of ceramides, cholesterol, and free fatty acids. Single-ceramide products are common and largely ineffective; the bilayer needs all three classes to assemble properly. We use ceramide NP, AP, and EOP together with cholesterol at a ratio that matches the literature.
On Cape aloe ferox
The more common Aloe barbadensis (true aloe vera) is widely used in cosmetics. Cape aloe ferox is a different species native to South Africa, with a different phytochemical profile — higher concentration of polysaccharides, less of the irritating anthraquinones found in barbadensis. It is the more sensitive-skin-friendly aloe.
How to use
Apply liberally to damp skin after bathing. Reapply on patches that feel tight or rough. Safe for daily use, all body areas including hands.
When not to use
This product is fragrance-free and formulated for sensitivity. Even so — if you have a serious skin condition (eczema, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis), please use under medical guidance.
