Veldt Recovery Balm
Cooling muscle balm with Kalahari devil's claw
A cooling recovery balm built around Kalahari-harvested devil's claw, with menthol and camphor at cosmetic-balm concentrations for sensorial relief after movement. For massaging into tired muscles, sore necks, and hard-working hands.
Actives
- Devil's claw extract (Harpagophytum procumbens) 3% Indigenous anti-inflammatory traditionally used by Kalahari communities
- Menthol 1.0% Cooling sensation, vasodilation
- Camphor 1.5% Counter-irritant, warming-cooling sensation
- Marula oil 5% Carrier oil, fatty-acid rich, indigenous
On the evidence
The clinical evidence for topical devil’s claw on muscle soreness is moderate. A 2003 Phytomedicine trial showed meaningful pain reduction in chronic lower back conditions; topical formulations are less well-studied than oral, but the harpagoside content is credibly absorbed through skin in cosmetic carriers. We use this product the way it is supposed to be used — as a sensorial recovery aid, not a medical treatment.
How to use
Massage into tired muscles, sore joints, the small of the back, the neck. Use after a long day, a long walk, or a long session at a desk. Wash hands after applying.
When not to use
Not for use on broken skin, mucous membranes, or near the eyes. Patch test if you have known menthol or camphor sensitivity. Not for children under 6.
